Middle school. The time adults and teenagers call the biggest trial of our lives. Some say it is the worst parts of our lives and for some it has pushed them to end their lives. If you ask me, it's the Devil's playground. He finds ways to slip into disguise and blind us from what is really important and what is true and holy. I am a middle-school student and I used to go to a public middle school. Everyone in my school was insecure so they lash out at others in hopes that it will make them find a place to fit in. For a young Christian it is a constant battle every single day. We have to duck in the way so we won't get hit by the bullets coming our way. You will get hit by bullets. Some feel like they hit harder than others. Some kids even choose to pick up a gun themselves and shoot at others, which is exactly what the Devil wants. Psalm 119:28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
Some kids at school just need to hear the Word. Maybe they are treating people and acting a certain way because of how they are treated at home. They just need to hear about the incredible unending love just for them and all they have to do is accept it. A simple hello and just talking to someone could be the difference between life and death. I know all these things are easier said than done. We have a fear of breaking the status quo and having it come back to hit us in the face. I know this thought is especially hard on the shy ones. I was one of you. But isn't just a bit of suffering worth it to save someone's life? So maybe you won't be that kid that stands in the middle of campus that preaches at the top of their lungs, but you will still influence others. Believe it or not, but every little thing we do has impact on others. If we decide not to tell that joke that you know your friends would laugh at. Decide not to gossip about that kid that seems to stick out just a little bit more than everyone else. We can impact people by just living a normal life like we want to. Who are you hanging out with at school? Do they bring out the best on you? 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
Imagine going through your whole day at school with Jesus by your side the whole time. Would he approve the things you say? Would he like your friends? He is always watching over you. Or how about your mom? How many groundings would you get if she heard some of the things you said? Would she like your friends? What about your third-grade self? Would you be embarrassed to see what you've turned into? What do you think about at school? If you are really honest with yourself, are you thinking godly thoughts? Or are you thinking worldly thoughts? Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Are you who you want to be in this world full of sin? Are you living a fruitful life? Or do you need to make a couple changes? But through all the pain and trials, stay strong. You can do it.
